STATEMENT
“As a photographer who curates, teaches and creates art in the Bronx, I understand the challenges artists have to legitimize themselves. Someone once said to me, “Follow the artists. As the artists go, so does the community. Artists have always been at the rebirth of a community or a neighborhood”. I firmly believe that Bronx artists have had a fundamental role in the changes the Bronx has undergone in recent years. And the Portraits of Bronx Renaissance Artists project has captured the stories of these artists.”
