The En Foco Touring Gallery program is proud to present a selection of photographs at the Fordham Center Branch of the New York Public Library in the Bronx, from November 5 to December 1, 2002.

This exhibition features work by the late Julio Piedra (1937 – 1989), published in Nueva Luz photographic journal Vol. 1: 3.

In describing his work, he felt that “ …the available light has in most instances been the object of these studies, to capture the emotional quality, the lingering mood or the chiaroscuro of an exclusive moment. Flowers, because of their inherent beauty and casual sensitivity, have been the perfect union with the movement and space of light.”

Julio Piedra was born in New York City and attended McGill University, Universite de Montreal, Canada and The School of Visual Arts in New York City. En Foco has exhibited his work at The New Museum of Contemporary Art and The Bronx Museum of the Arts. His works are also included in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum.

Over its past twenty eight year history En Foco exhibited and published many talented photographers. The Permanent Collection represents over 400 photographs, murals, posters and catalogs of those whom have participated in our programs since 1973. En Foco exhibits prints from its Permanent Collection in galleries, museum and alternative spaces throughout New York City.
