Statement
My work is part of a spiritual search, an exploration to fill a void, to discover what is missing, to describe something that I cannot express, but that I feel creating an experience unique for each viewer. The intent is to connect the observer with a time and place they may have forgotten and to evoke a sense of nostalgia. I began documenting Puerto in 1998, and this has stimulated me to continue my quest. With my camera I am discovering my culture in a way that I did not understand in my youth. It excites me to create a means of rediscovery for myself and for each viewer. My desire to explain it to myself and to my viewers continues to grow.
These images are an effort to create an experience, a means of noticing of what we often miss. Each image has an imperfection and flaws are the true measure of life.
