As we continue to navigate the pandemic, there has been an undeniable increase in racist and xenophobic attacks aimed at Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) who are wrongfully being held responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The mass murder of AAPI community members in Atlanta last week is a horrific continuation of this racist behavior. The nature of the attacks also highlights the ever-present intersections of misogyny and class in xenophobia. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident but a culmination of recent and prolific attacks, threats, and the purposeful spread of vitriol and misinformation aimed at AAPI communities by the previous administration.

En Foco maintains and reaffirms its commitment in these trying times to highlight the efforts of artists of color and denounce hatred wherever it may arise. Join us in a moment of silence for those impacted by this heinous act of violence and hate, and allow us to celebrate the beauty of diversity, inclusion, and acceptance.
