This year En Foco had the privilege to co-chair the Society for Photographic Education’s National Conference in Philadelphia. The conference topic was Facing Diversity: Leveling the Playing Field in the Photographic Arts, and many of our artists were in attendance in various roles. The conference was great, but if you missed it, all is not lost.
Todd Wemmer, a colleague, educator and creator of photosdie.com offered to interview quite a few of our artists for posting. Thanks Todd. Since photographs and the stories behind them are so important to us, we’ve spiced things up by including images by the artists interviewed. These interviews will be hitting the blog and YouTube over the next few months.
The first interview in the series is with Orville Robertson. Long time Nueva Luz readers will remember Orville from Volume 7:3. I’m not going to say much about his work, that’s what the interview is for, but I will say that if you like street photography then I have good news. The Domeischel Gallery is showing Orville’s photographs until May 22, 2010, and I think everyone knows how much nicer it is to see actual prints.
Enjoy the words and photographs of Orville Robertson.
